As the poorest province in China, Guizhou has been the main battlefield in poverty alleviation. Of 88 counties, 66 are classified as poor. To date, 3.7 million individuals have been registered as impoverished.
In 2017, Guizhou aims to reduce its poverty figures by more than 1 million individuals, 20 counties, 90 towns and 2,300 villages. Also, 750,000 people and 3,500 villages will be relocated. At the same time, Guizhou will put more effort into employment policies, ensuring that relocated residents find work and live a better life.
