The man on the right is George Steinmetz from the United States. As an internationally renowned traveling photographer, he has been to most of the deserts in the world, taking desert-themed photos, many from the air. He is a writer for National Geographic, with more than 40 articles published and three photographs featured on the cover. Now, George Steinmetz is shifting his focus to the greening desert in China—the Kubuqi Desert. It is his second visit; he came last year for the first time to take photos from a powered paraglider that attracted millions of likes and comments from netusers across the globe. Apparently, that was not enough for him, so he came back this year. For him, the most outstanding feature of Kubuqi is the greening. “Deserts in the rest of the world see a constant battle between greenery and sand, but here in Kubuqi, victory has gone to the green.” [Photo by Yang Jia]
