Ge Aiping is the “First Secretary” of Heiyu Village, Kelan County. The relatively high elevation and striking temperature difference between day and night allows for various grain crops—especially hulless oats, red kidney beans—to grow well there. Heiyu is famous for its assorted locally grown crops, including the delicious and nutritious “silver plate” mushrooms, picked by villagers in the mountains. In order to sell good products at a good price, Ge Aiping networked extensively to open up sales leads. She would come up with the idea of group-purchasing on the Internet.
