Chinese blind celebrate White Cane Safety Day with music to convey hope

Oct. 15, 2020 marks the 37th White Cane Safety Day. The theme for this year’s event in China is “A moderately prosperous society in all respects includes you and me.”

On Oct. 12 the China Disabled Persons Federation, the China Blind Persons’ Association, China Braille Press, the China Braille Library, and three other organizations jointly organized a music concert in Beijing. The performers were blind winners of a nationwide video competition, and one of the hosts was also blind. They also played several short videos telling stories of successful visually impaired people who have excelled in education and various careers. A recording of the event will be published on several mainstream media outlets.
