There is no access road for villagers to get around. Never mind the commercial trading of village-produced agricultural by-products—even just bringing daily necessities into the village is an arduous task. In light of the village’s inadequate access to goods and supplies, many have wondered how best to break down the barrier isolating the small village from its surroundings. Poor transportation has become the main factor that restrains the development of Jingangtai Village. State Grid Anhui Electric Power Company actively fundraised to offset the 2.6-million-yuan (U.S. $377,260) cost of building the road and, in the end, was successful in gaining the financial support of the Grid Welfare Foundation. When Xiahe Road—the 4.1-kilometer-long road connecting Jingangtai to the outside—was completed, all villagers jumped for joy.
