The first Lancang-Mekong Fruit Festival was kicked off in Beijing on Monday.
The first Lancang-Mekong Fruit Festival was kicked off in Beijing on Monday, to boost cooperation with countries under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation mechanism despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
This event was hosted by Department of International Cooperation, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and organized by Foreign Economic Cooperation Center, MARA.
"The LMC has become one of the most dynamic emerging cooperation mechanisms in the subregion. Agriculture is a major industry among the member countries, especially the fruit sector, and the Chinese market is seen as an important market," said Pathumwadee Imtour, minister counselor of the Embassy of Thailand in China.
Fruit companies and stores in over 100 cities has launched various events to promote LMC fruits.
"Despite uncertainties brought by the contagion, Pagoda will boost cooperation with LMC economies within the whole industry chain, especially in fruit production, processing and circulation," said Yu Huiyong, founder and chairman of Pagoda, a leading fruit retailing platform in China.
