In recent years, Lishui district, Nanjing city, Jiangsu province, has taken the opportunity of China’s campaign to beautify its countryside to actively promote the efficient development of high-quality, standardized, characteristic bed and breakfasts in its villages.
The district is home to a city-level rural hospitality demonstration village that currently features a total of over 1,000 beds in more than 30 hotels and reaches an overall occupancy rate of 90 percent on weekends and holidays. Bed and breakfasts are gradually playing a more important role in income generation in Nanjing’s countryside areas and in other parts of rural China.
