Women pursue new jobs in resettlement village in Ningxia’s Lingwu city

More than 7,000 members of 1,686 households have relocated from Jingyuan county, Guyuan city, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, to Jingling new village, Haojiaqiao town, Lingwu county-level city,Yinchuan city, Ningxia, since 2012 as part of a resettlement campaign that was launched in conjunction with environmental protection efforts in the southern part of the autonomous region.
The Lingwu government has developed crop cultivation, animal husbandry, and garment manufacturing undertakings in Jingling that take advantage of the city’s strengths so that the women who have moved to the area can increase their incomes near their new homes. More than 660 greenhouses have been built thus far, each of which generates more than 50,000 yuan (US$7,698) of revenue per year. A poverty alleviation-oriented factory that currently employs more than 50 of the new village’s female residents and pays an average of over 1,500 yuan (US$231) a month was also established in 2020.
