Factories in Hebei province help locals escape from poverty

Wuyi county of Hebei province is home to many labor-intensive companies that have the potential to employ numerous laborers who live in rural parts of the local area and are unemployed, impoverished or both. The Wuyi county government encourages these businesses to establish new factories for poverty alleviation purposes and to provide flexible work opportunities at them, such as temporary, seasonal and short-term jobs. The more than 30 new workshops that have emerged in the county thus far produce shoes and clothing and currently employ a total of over 800 impoverished people in their local communities.
