China’s Maonan ethnic group escapes from poverty

Fog partially covers rural roads and residential areas in Xianan township, Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county,Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.The Maonan ethnic group is one of China’s 28 ethnic minority groups with smallpopulations, and 64,500 people who are part of the group live in Huanjiang, which is 70 percent of its total population. A key national poverty alleviation and development county, Huanjiang’s poverty rate fell to 1.48 percent by the end of2019, and it officially escaped from poverty in May 2020.
