Bamboo shoot industry increases farmers' incomes in Yunnan

Located in the impoverished Wumeng mountains region, Zhenxiong county, Yunnan province has been developing its bamboo shoot industry in order to increase its residents’ incomes. Bamboo is currently grown on more than 40,000 ha of land in the county, and the Yunsun Industrial Park in Shanshu township is capable of processing 1,000 tons of the crop per year. More than 1,200 of Zhenxiong’s citizens have been able to increase their incomes by working in the industry.
