High Praise from ASEAN Officials

The former Philippine Chief of the National Anti-Poverty Commission  Liza Maza said, “I think China’s experience in poverty reduction is very remarkable. I think it is a model that should be emulated by many other countries that are still in poverty.” Speaking of the cooperation between the two countries, she noted that China is planning to set up two poverty alleviation projects in the Philippines. “I think one of components of these poverty alleviation projects is training, exchange of the experience, and sharing of the experience. For our part, we are really thankful for this, and we hope this would be the start of a long and extensive cooperation between the Philippines and China,” she said.

H.E. Liza Maza, former Chief of the National Anti-Poverty Commission of the Republic of the Philippines.

Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesia’s Ambassador to China, also believed that China’s experience should be shared with other developing countries. “I would like to congratulate the Chinese government on its success in alleviating poverty. This is one of the best success stories from China,” he told China.org.cn reporter. “China is very successful in providing education for all the people. You also provide health care, and you are also successful in providing food and water. So this is what Indonesia will learn from China. I believe through cooperation between our countries we can transfer knowledge of how China has reduced poverty effectively and efficiently.”
