South-South Cooperation for Knowledge Sharing

Both of the UN officials spoke highly of China’s launch of the Global Poverty Reduction and Inclusive Growth Portal, a knowledge platform specialized in sharing policy research, data, country profiles and news on poverty reduction and inclusive growth.

Benjamin Davis said, “I’m very excited because information is power, information gives people options and alternatives. I think it will be a very important mechanism for sharing all the experiences that China has had with other countries in a very effective and easy way. So we are very much looking forward to capitalizing on this mechanism as part of our effort to the South-South Cooperation.”

Vincent Martin added, “There are different techniques and tools to reduce poverty, such as social protection, agricultural development, etc. But what is equally important is sharing knowledge, sharing information, because when you don’t know, you cannot change your life, and you cannot really change things. So exchanging information through the South-South Cooperation platform or through a web platform is key for countries to realize what can be done and how it can be done.”
