Benefit of China’s Experience for Other Developing Countries

Vincent Martin thinks that the developing countries still have a long way to go to eradicate poverty and hunger and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, and they can learn from China’s experience in poverty reduction.

In terms of how to participate in the process of sharing Chinese experience with other countries, Benjamin Davis thinks there are many good examples, and one is called “South-South Cooperation” already in existence. “I think the social protection and its linkages with agriculture are very good examples where you have a series of collaborative programs developing in Latin America for example, and developing later in sub-Saharan Africa, a lot of cross-continent and within-continent sharing of ideas which led to the adoption and scale up of these programs. I can foresee something happening similarly in the case of China with the success it had, taking these elements from its strategy which are applicable to other contexts and using them,” he said.
