China’s poverty alleviation aims to achieve sustainable and high-quality development and to benefit everyone in need of help. China’s achievements in poverty reduction have attracted many officials and experts from other developing countries to come and learn. After having lectures and field trips to experience in person China’s approaches of lifting people out of poverty, they all would like to take home China’s experience to accelerate the process of poverty alleviation in their own countries.
Appreciate the Chinese Government’s Sense of Responsibility
A number of attendees of the China-Africa CooperationForum on Poverty Reduction and Developmentvisiting Bijie City of Guizhou Province, inspecting local poverty-relief programs in infrastructure construction, industrial and ecological development, and residentsrelocation, in August 2018.
China is the largest developing country in the world. Since its reform and opening-up, all of its people have worked together actively in poverty alleviation and have made brilliant achievements. With a high sense of responsibility, the Chinese government has been deeply involved in the campaign against poverty and has received wide praise from other developing countries.
Mahe Raoul Martin, Chairman of the Management Committee of Public Servants, Vanuatu, believes that China has demonstrated that poverty alleviation and reduction is possible through government commitment. With the challenge of achieving zero poverty in 2020 now ahead, he thinks the Chinese government is involved with a high sense of responsibility and a focus on improving every citizen’s livelihood.
During his visit to rural areas in Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, Wijesinghe Banda Rathnayake Mudiyanselage, an official with the Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka, witnessed the local people’s striving for a better life, the government’s intervention to improve their living standard, and the successful projects organized by experienced government officials. He expressed that after returning home, they would apply China’s experience to their work.
Theresia E.Mbua N. Epse Wanahl, Director of the Department of University Assistance and Welfare, Cameroon Prime Minister’s Office, had a field survey in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. She said that the remarkable results in poverty reduction could not have been achieved without the government’s efforts in system and institutional construction. The Chinese government “strives to mobilize all forces to get involved in various forms, including the education, health, financial, ecological tourism, trading and other relevant departments”, and encourages relevant enterprises to provide training so that the farmers can achieve self-employment, she added.
