First South-South Human Rights Forum

The first "South-South Human Rights Forum" opened in Beijing on December 7th, 2017. Themed "Building a Community of Shared Future for Human Beings: New Opportunity for South-South Human Rights Development", the forum gathered more than 300 representatives from over 70 countries and international organizations to discuss human right issues in developing countries and the world in six parallel sessions.
Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the event, which emphasizes that human rights worldwide could not be achieved without the joint efforts of developing countries, and calls on international community to respect and reflect the will of the people in developing countries.
The forum concluded on December 8th, 2017 and issued Beijing Declaration. The participants agreed in the declaration that Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposal to build a community with a shared future for mankind was a major concept which conforms to the trend of the times, fits the requirements of development, and reflects the pursuit of a new human social value.
