WB congratulates on China's awards for poverty alleviation

To mark the third China Poverty Alleviation Day falls on October 17, China issues the 2016 National Awards for Poverty Alleviation, a top-level honor to officially recognize those who excel in fighting poverty, today.

Organized by the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP), the prizes are comprised of awards for endeavor, contribution, dedication and innovation. Altogether 38 people from different walks of life are titled to claim the prizes.

The prizes will be issued once a year until 2020, a deadline to help lift the remaining 55 million poor people out of poverty.
