Innovative platforms aim at giving access to knowledge to everyone

Three platforms were showcased at the seminar, IFAD’s Rural Development Solutions Marketplace that is expected to be launched in the second half of 2017, he Global Food Security and Nutrition Forum of the FAO and the Global Poverty Reduction & Inclusive Growth (GPIG) portal. Launched in May 2016, the GPIG Portal brings together information from different sources in a standardized way. The portal hosts, organizes, manages and delivers online and offline events to promote international cooperation and capacity building activities to contribute to the successful achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In less than one year of operations, the portal counts now with a strong network of contributors and promotes knowledge sharing online and offline. Most importantly, the portal is being used at a global level.

Through the partnerships that have been established with international organizations, most recently with the FAO, the portal aims at continuing contributing to the achievement of the 2030 agenda. FAO, CIIC and IPRCC will be soon launching at the 2017 China International Conference on Poverty Reduction the Innovation lab, a multimedia tool to tell stories on poverty reduction in an appealing and approachable way through short videos.

At the end of 2017, the portal will also be publishing two English books on the perceptions of the world of China’s experience in poverty reduction and a collection of case studies from China’s experience in poverty reduction.

Global partnerships fundamental to achieve the 2030 Agenda Tan Weiping, Deputy Director General of IPRCC concluded that there is a lot of that has been learnt in the last years, but that knowledge has to be shared and partnerships need to be established to help every country to achieve the complete eradication of poverty at the global level. Mr Tan said that IPRCC is happy to be working together with FAO and IFAD in developing and implementing initiatives that contribute to the achievement of SDG1 and SGD2 and welcomes the opportunity to start also collaborating with the newly established Italian Agency for Development and International Cooperation.
