Through various means of cooperation, Peicundian Township in Central China’s Henan Province has integrated a range of different resources to develop projects suited to the local conditions, establishing “poverty alleviation workshops” in each of the town’s privately owned companies. As part of the initiative, left-behind women and poor households are able to find jobs near their home and lift themselves out of poverty. Peicundian Township has created a development model of empowerment and autonomy—one that focuses on employment and other effective methods of poverty alleviation.
