Editor’s Note:
In order to give Internet users the opportunity to highlight China’s achievements in poverty alleviation through development since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, the State Internet Information Office is holding a photo and video contest - “Poverty Alleviation Through a Lens”. Organized by three affiliate sites of the China Internet Information Center - china.org.cn, p.china.org.cn and chinagate.cn - this contest invites Internet users, photo enthusiasts, and bloggers to submit photo-journalism articles and short videos on poverty alleviation. It will run from March 8 to June 6, 2017. For the time being, work is still being collected.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of Jiangsu province has brought healthcare to ordinary families in Dasheng village, in Feng county by providing explanations and presentations on health, diseases, and preventive measures, by providing medical skills and commonly-used medicines, and by providing one- on-one help through twinning partners.
During the course of 2017, Jiangsu CDC carried out 600 free health checkups, donated 17,800 yuan (c. U.S. $2,500) to 32 impoverished households, provided 4,000 yuan(c. U.S. $580) in medicines, and addressed many of the villagers’ practical problems.
