Youth Actions on Green Agricultural Heritage: Global Cultural Symbiosis is co-initiated by World Food Forum (China) and China Internet Information Center. The goal is to establish a series of activities focused on cultural exchange and mutual learning pertaining to Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) and fostering multi-stakeholder engagement from UN agencies, agricultural departments from multiple countries, media, authoritative experts, public figures and youth participants. The initiative will unfold through exchanges and video releases showcasing youth-driven innovations related to agricultural heritage, with activities held in Shanghai, China, Jeju Island, Republic of Korea, Vientiane, Laos, and Rome, Italy.
In Laos, about 70 percent of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihoods.Not long ago, Laos held its first National Youth Forum focusing on climate-smart agriculture and resilient food systems. Through seminars, youth innovation challenges, short film screenings, and field visits, young innovators from different countries connected with one another.
From rice fields to tea mountains, and onto the international stage, Laotian agricultural heritage is being reinterpreted by a new generation — and given new life.
