From August 11 to 13, the event Youth Action on Green Agri-Heritage: Global Cultural Symbiosis was successfully held in Shanghai. The event was designed to connect China’s agricultural cultural heritage and global youth-driven innovation via field visits, international youth roundtable dialogues and co-creation camps.
On August 13, the Chinese and international youth participating in the Visual Creation Workshop presented the videos they had shot and produced under the guidance of the renowned Japanese director Takeuchi Ryo. The videos featuring the unique perspectives and innovative storytelling language of these young creators, infused youth wisdom into the promotion and exchange of agricultural cultural heritage.
As the closing highlight of the event, the International Youth Roundtable Dialogue focused on two key themes: the technicalempowerment to agri-heritage and the cultural empowerment to agri-heritage. The youth engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges of ideas, with new concepts and approaches emerging throughout, offering dynamic, youth-driven pathways for exploring the future of agricultural cultural heritage.
In her closing remarks, Zeng Zixin, assistant researcher from the Center of International Cooperation Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, stated, “To innovate and empower globally significant agricultural cultural heritage, we have to firstly understand its agricultural production essence and sustainable development value. We hope that young people could use systematic ways of thinking, to further explore the economic, social, cultural, ecological, and technological values of agricultural heritage, and actively participate in its protection and utilization.”
