Lyu started the planting of raspberries as he noticed that they were as popular as blueberries and strawberries in supermarkets overseas, but not available in domestic supermarkets.
He chose Ningxia because of its dry climate and sufficient sunlight, convenient transportation and excellent investment environment.
With a smart greenhouse covering an area of 30 mu (4.7 hectare) and outdoor soilless cultivation seedling field covering 70 mu, Lyu plants more than 150,000 raspberry bushes in Xinrong village.
It can produce 70 tons of raspberries annually, with an output value of about 6 million yuan ($873,500).
