This year, Yueyahu township, Xingqing district, Yinchuan city, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, enjoyed a bumper crop of honeydew melons. Located at the convergence of the Mu Us Desert and Yellow River Valley, the township is an ideal place to cultivate the crop due to the relatively unique combination of high-quality sandy land and abundant water resources that it enjoys.

In recent years, local enterprises have gotten involved with Yueyahu’s honeydew melon industry and helped develop it. Cultivation bases devoted to the fruit presently cover more than 146 ha of land in the administrative area and produce over 8,700 tons of output per year. Their products are currently sold to buyers in Zhejiang, Hunan, and Sichuan provinces and other areas.
