Medical insurance and service for poor people

CRI,September 20, 2018 Adjust font size:

A nurse makes her rounds at the People’s Hospital of Wenxian County in Henan Province on June 29, 2018 in a ward that is part of the local poverty alleviation program. In recent years, Wenxian has set its sights on dealing with disease-induced poverty, after a survey showed that 42 percent of residents registered as living below the poverty line were impoverished due to a health condition. The Wenxian government now provides medical insurance to prevent people from falling into poverty as a result of illness. It has spent 620,000 yuan on medical insurance for 1,531 residents. The insurance covers 94.3 percent of the cost of medical treatment. (Xinhua/Li An)
