p.china.org.cn, April 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Zhu Shumao had endured long-standing poverty. Now he and his new wife prepare their new house for a happy Spring Festival.

During the course of 2016, Chengdu made a major push to address the poverty problems of Jianyang city through relocation and industrial development. 54 households were able to celebrate Spring Festival in their new homes. The smiles on the faces of the individuals concerned filled the village with joy and hope.

Zhu Shumao had previously been classified as impoverished. This year, while still in rehabilitation from a car accident, he moved into a new house and found a wife as well as a new job, all of which exceeded his wildest dreams. Another impoverished couple, Zeng Shanqing and his wife Luo Birong, had lived in a dark adobe house where they had to cook on an open wood fire. In their new house they enjoy a bright kitchen with a gas burner and extractor hood.
