The bundled notes pictured above total exactly 255,000yuan (U.S. $36,784). It is to be shared among the impoverished community, which also contributed many efforts in the implementation of the poverty alleviation campaign’s targeted measures.

In the process of its reform and opening-up initiated in the late 1970s, China has made great progress in terms of large-scale poverty reduction, contributing considerably to the realization of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). However, the country still faces problems such as income inequality and huge impoverished populations in rural areas.
